major.blad~dancing.with.the.stars!

first off, i am so sorry i have taken the last three days of posting on rueyou.  i was extremely busy this weekend with the performance below.  ahhh where do i begin?.... im not exactly sure how i got roped into a situation like this but....i was recently co-erced into doing a local version of dancing with the stars.  my partner, mayor blad, aka: b-dawg or major blad was fantastic!  turns out i ended up being a very lucky little girl because unlike some guys, he actually knows how to count to 8!!!  the last two weeks have been a blast!  when it finally became performance time b-dawg stepped it up and BLEW the crowd away with his unique beat boy style and hip hop dance moves.  all would agree that night, he was defiantly the star!!! (watch the performance below!)

The Big Easy

I just returned from a trip to the Big Easy, so of course I had to post about all things New Orleans! If you haven't already and you ever get a chance, you should definitely pounce on it and see for yourself all of the beautiful sights this cool city has to offer!

New Orleans ~ Home of Mardi Gras!!

I don't even wanna know how those beads got there!!

Jazz was in the air at all times

Now how would you like coming home to this?! The homes there were BEAUTIFUL

Of course I had to include the fleur de lis!

Though I didn't personally partake, I've heard the beignets are a must-try!

Looked over at the stoplight and saw this sweet car! Perfect for cruising around NOLA

Some kids playing jazz on the dock in the French Quarter ~ so rad! Check out that little boy ~ his instrument is bigger than he is!!

Cool home decor place I saw while out and about. So many shops I was dying to peek in but we were short on time. Guess that just means I'll have to return! Maybe I'll see you there :)

target

is anyone else loving the calypso st. barths collection for target as much as i am? i love calypso's bohemian, laid-back style yet still clean and preppy!

I'm swooning over the assortment of home furnishings, too!
(biggest predicament will be choosing between the gold and silver poufs.)

lil.goodies

baking cakes

i've decided to bake up a storm this week, getting in the spirit of things with easter coming.  i feel like I need to step up my game, so i've decided to bake!

who's up for some scrumptious banana cupcakes?

Banana cupcakes (makes 12 )
Ingredients
125g (4.5 ounces) butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon (1/6 ounces) vanilla extract
150g (5.2 ounces) caster sugar
2 eggs
225g (8 ounces) self-raising flour
2 large mashed ripe bananas

Cooking instruction

-Preheat oven to 160-180 deg C (325-350 deg F).
-Line muffin tray with paper cases.
-Beat butter and sugar with an electric mixer until the mixture turns a pale colour.
-Beat in eggs, flour and vanilla extract.
-Stir in the mashed banana and mix thoroughly.
-Divide mixture among cases.
-Bake for 25-30 minutes.
-Place cakes on a wire rack to cool.

These cupcakes are similar to banana bread (very moist from the bananas), they go for a great breakfast treat as well!

perpetual.produce

these beautiful block-printed produce calendars by krank press seem like such a great way to keep track of what's in season--and to get inspired about eating seasonally and locally. i wish i would have thought of these myself!!  i might just google the different seasons for each fruit and veggie i like and make my own calendar.

the best bit? while the three images at top are specific to southern california (june is a bit early for tomatoes out here), krank makes regionally specific editions!

heart.brownies

How sweet is this idea for brownies? (You could do it with letters, too.)

i think it would be fun to use rice crispy treats with brownies, etc, etc.

enjoy!
